The Seven Mile Beach National Park is a national park in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales , 113 kilometers south of Sydney .

It is a particularly beautiful stretch of beach between Nowra and Wollongong . It begins in the south at Shoalhaven Heads and extends approximately 9.5 kilometers (seven miles) north to Black Point . In addition to a viewing platform, there are also picnic areas and sanitary facilities.

In the park there are sand dunes with their typical vegetation such as spinifex grass , casuarina , various banksia , southern mahogany and macrozamia . The bird population includes honey-eaters , Pennant Parakeets , hunters' nests , ravens and crows , gray fan-tails and white-bellied sea eagles .

The Crooked River flows into the sea at Seven Mile Beach for fishing. There is a parking lot at Black Head and hiking trails that lead to a rock platform where fossils are located. Collecting and breaking out is prohibited. A wide variety of fish can be caught from the platform.

The beach is accessible via Beach Road , a spur road from the Bomaderry - Shoalhaven Heads - Gerringong road.

In Kingsford Smith Memorial Park is located Kingsford Smith Memorial and the Kingsford Smith Memorial Lookout , which at the Headlands Drive and at the Crooked River Road located. The memorial commemorates the historic first flight of the Australian aviation pioneer Charles Kingsford Smith in 1928 over the Tasman Sea to New Zealand . The memorial consists of a small cushion, a plaque and a flat relief depicting the plane, the Southern Cross . In 1933, Seven Mile Beach was used by Charles Kingsford Smith as the runway for the first commercial flight between Australia and New Zealand.
