The Bellinger River National Park ( English Bellinger River National Park ) is a national park in the Australian state of New South Wales , which is about 570 km north of Sydney near Dorrigo and Bellingen. The park was placed under protection in 1997 and has a size of 2830 ha.

General

The park encompasses an untouched wilderness with steep slopes and valleys with impressive waterfalls. In the area there are old primeval forests and subtropical rainforests.

So far 69 bird species have been registered in the park, many of which are particularly adapted to the living conditions in rainforests. Endangered bird species in the park include the long-tailed fruit pigeon , the rust-bellied thicket bird , the foxshabicht , the New Holland owl and the black owl .

Mammals that can be seen in the park include: a. the Eastern Gray Giant Kangaroo , Koalas , Pouch Marten , the Great Long-nosed Pouch and Wallabies .

Further protected areas

The Bellinger River National Park is bordered by Dorrigo National Park and New England National Park .
