The Kings Plains National Park is a national park in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales , 478 km north of Sydney , about 50 km northwest of Glen Innes and about 48 km northeast of Inverell .

The park was created in January 1988 between the Macintyre River and the Severn River on Kings Plains Creek and Weean Creek . The two streams form waterfalls and many water holes on the rocky plateau, which are filled with water all year round. This permanently available source of water also attracts many wild animals. The Kings Plains Falls are particularly worth seeing, but can only be admired after heavy rainfall.
