The Lane Cove National Park is a national park in the district of North Ryde , 14 km north from the center of Sydney . The park was founded in 1938. The original 125 hectares along the Lane Cove River were expanded in 1992 by over 300 hectares.
The main attractions of the park are the numerous hiking trails along the Lane Cove River with picnic and barbecue facilities and the only campsite in Sydney. In addition to numerous wallabies, there are possums , numerous bird and reptile species, as well as native fish species in the Lane Cove River, such as the New Zealand eel .
