The Dharug National Park is a national park in eastern Australian state of New South Wales , 58 kilometers north of Sydney . It is north of the lower reaches of the Hawkesbury River . It is bounded to the west by the Macdonald River , to the northwest by Wights Creek , a tributary of the Macdonald River, and to the northeast and east by Mangrove Creek , a tributary of the Hawkesbury River.
The park was named after the Dharug , a local Aboriginal tribe . In the wilderness of the sandstone mountains one can find numerous different habitats, e.g. B. Blue-Gum - eucalyptus forests , mountain forests , swamps, heathland and rainforest .
In the park you can watch many species of birds such as cockatoos , wombats , snakes and other animals.
