The Cocoparra National Park is a national park in the southwest of the Australian state of New South Wales , 457 kilometers west of Sydney and 25 kilometers northwest of Griffith in the Riverina . To the north of the national park is the Cocoparra Nature Reserve . The national park was designated in 1969 and is 8,358 hectares in size. The nature park was established in 1963 and covers an area of 4647 hectares.
Geology and national nature
The hills of the Cocoparra Range consist of sandstone from the younger Devonian , siltstone and conglomerate rock .
There are higher hills in the park, such as Bingar Mountain (455 meters) and Brogden Mountain (390 meters) in an otherwise flat landscape.
Climate and vegetation
The climate is semi-arid. The vegetation has adapted to this and consists of acacias , orchids , ironbark - eucalyptus and blue cypress trees .
Recreational facilities
There are a number of picnic areas and a campsite at Woolshed Flat .
