The elongated Garigal National Park is located in Sydney , Australia , about 20 kilometers north of the city center. The national park extends north along Middle Harbor Creek to Mona Vale Road and east to Wakehurst Parkway . The name Garigal goes back to a clan of the Guringai , a tribe of the Aborigines .
The park offers recreational opportunities close to the center in an area characterized by bushes and sandstone with views of water and bush landscapes with waterfalls and historical surroundings. The Davidson Park Picnic Area on the north side of Middle Harbor Creek at Roseville Bridge offers picnicking, boating, paddling, canoeing, and fishing. There are also boat ramps available. The Garigal National Park offers a system of trails for hiking, cycling, mountain biking and horse riding. Camping is not allowed in this park.
Australian nosebags , koalas , wallabies , birds and snakes live in the park, which winds between Sydney's suburbs .
