Pigeon House Mountain in Morton National Park |
The Morton National Park is a large national park in the southeast of the Australian state of New South Wales , 170 kilometers south of Sydney .
The main attractions are Fitzroy Falls, just off the main road from the highlands to Kangaroo Valley in the northeast and Pigeon House Mountain west of Milton in the southeast corner of the park.
The park consists of a mostly flat plateau, which is interrupted by steep valleys and canons. The plateau slopes slightly to the northeast. It extends from Bundanoon in the north to Ulladulla in the southeast.
The northern part of the Budawang Range lies in the park to which the Budawang National Park adjoins in the southwest . In the north, the Fitzroy Falls and Belmore Falls plunge from the plateau into narrow valleys covered with rainforest . The Shoalhaven River flows through the park to the northwest and north. The highest point is Mount Tianjara in the east with 768 m.
In Morton National Park there are also the Dunghaven and Beorgwic campsites , where medieval life is cultivated.
