The Dunggir National Park is a national park in north-eastern Australian state of New South Wales , 382 km north of Sydney , 84 kilometers north of Port Macquarie and about 60 km southwest of Coffs Harbor .
The national park is east of the New England National Park . The landscape features high mountain ridges overgrown with eucalyptus forest and narrow, protected stream valleys with patches of subtropical rainforest .
Koalas live in the forests , from which the park got its name. In the local Aboriginal language , the Gumbaynggir , 'Dunggir' means koala. There are also Gelbbauch- Gleitbeutler and Powerful Owl s ( owl ).
