The Gir-um-bit National Park is a national park in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales , about 30 kilometers northeast of Newcastle .

The park includes three smaller stretches of coastline on Little Swan Bay , Big Swan Bay and in the Karuah River estuary across from Soldiers Point and two islands in Little Swan Bay . Typical subtropical coastal landscapes are protected there , for example with mangroves . The saltwater wetlands are also a refuge for migratory birds and a habitat for native waterfowl.
