The Wyrrabalong National Park is a national park in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales . It was created in 1991.

The park consists of two separate parts. The northern part covers approximately 480 hectares between the places The Entrance and Norah Head and comprises a substantial part of the headland between the lagoon Tuggerah Lake and the sea as well as the islands Terilbah Island and Pelican Island in the lagoon. The southern part covers about 120 hectares of the coast between Shelly Beach and Forresters Beach . The park is also home to the last major coastal rainforest in the central section of the New South Wales coast.

The Aboriginal tribes of Darkinjung and Awabakal used to live in the area of ​​today's national park . The Darkinjung inhabited the southern part and the Awabakal the northern part. The first Europeans are said to have discovered Tuggerah Lake in 1796. He was discovered by David Collins , the future governor of Van Diemens Land , who arrived on the First Fleet , while looking for the escaped prisoner Mary Morgan , who is said to have lived with the Aborigines north of the Hawkesbury River .
