Christine Riedtmann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Christine Riedtmann (* 1952 ) is a Swiss mathematician who studies algebra. She has been a professor at the University of Bern since 1991 .

Riedtmann studied mathematics, physics and astronomy at the University of Basel and received his doctorate in 1978 from the University of Zurich under Pierre Gabriel ( algebras that are stable equivalent to a self-injecting Nakayama algebra ). She was a professor in Bern and has retired there since 2016.

It deals with the representation theory of algebras and quivers . In the late 1970s she dealt with algebras with representations of finite type (finite number of isomorphism classes of indecomposable modules ), of which it is assumed that there are only finitely many for each dimension. She classified these in special cases (for example self-injective algebras).

In 2011/12 she was President of the Swiss Mathematical Society . She also published on historical mathematicians in Switzerland.
