history

The Christkönig congregation came into being after the Second World War when many Catholic refugees came to Bielefeld. Initially, from 1952, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and the gym of the Sudbrack School were used as a place of worship. The foundation stone for the church was laid in 1954. The plans came from Aloys Dietrich.

From 1957 efforts were made to establish a Catholic denominational school, which was implemented four years later and existed until 1968. The kindergarten, which was inaugurated in 1960 and is run by the parish, also dates from this period.

From 1966 to 1967 the interior of the church was first redesigned. After the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council , the tabernacle was moved, which was implemented again in 1994.

In 1971 the Laurentiusheim was built. In 2003 the congregation was merged with the Heilig-Geist congregation to form the pastoral network in the West of Bielefeld .
