Rectory

The Christian Catholic rectory is a building in Obermumpf in the canton of Aargau . It is located on the southern edge of the village next to the parish church of St. Peter and Paul and dates back to the late 15th century. Originally it was the parsonage of the Roman Catholics until it came into the possession of the Christian Catholics in 1898 as a result of the Kulturkampf .

In the basement of the core building, the oldest part, the building is dated to around 1480. A renovation took place between 1685 and 1694, whereby the house was extended by a spatial axis on the slope side. In 1765/66 the roof over the part of the house on the valley side was completely renewed, in 1808/09 the dilapidated hillside annex was replaced and various repairs were made. In 1979 the interior was renovated while an exterior renovation is still pending.

The two-storey building placed across the slope has a bent half- hipped roof . Apart from a few window sections, the facades are made of quarry stone masonry . A rare peculiarity is the abortion arbor made of plastered timber framing attached to the back wall . In the part of the house facing the valley there is a large, flat-roofed cellar, which is accessible at ground level in the front area and is supported by a solid oak pillar. Separated by a transverse wall, a further basement with almost twice the storey height is attached in the rear area under the core building.
