The Christian League - The Party for Life (short name: LIGA ) was a small German party . It was founded in 1985 as the Christian Party for Life (short name: CPL ).

Program

The party saw itself as a Christian, socially conservative party. One of the main issues was the protection of life .

The first chairman was Josef Ripsam . He was later followed by Ewald Jaksch . In 1988 the LIGA had around 500 members.

history

The party was founded in 1985 by members of the Center Party around Josef Ripsam as the Christian Party for Life . In 1987 the CPL was renamed the Christian League - The Party for Life after adding further parts of the center . Elections were held several times under this name. During the time of reunification , groups of the Christian League were founded in the GDR . The party tried to position itself as the umbrella organization of the Christian parties and conducted merger negotiations with, among others, the party of Christian faithful to the Bible . In 1995, the party dissolved in favor of the newly founded Christian Party of Germany (CPD). This was finally absorbed by the Center Party in 2002.
