Christlieb Gotthold Hottinger

Christlieb Gotthold Hottinger (born February 24, 1848 ; † 1914 ) was a German librarian , editor and author .

Life

Hottinger studied theology and was pastor vicar in 1869 . In 1871 he became an "unskilled worker" at the Imperial Library in Strasbourg, today's Bibliothèque nationale et universitaire de Strasbourg . In 1875 he was promoted to custodian and in 1880 to librarian. He administered the department for theology, philosophy and education .

In the second half of the 1890s he moved to Berlin . In the south end of 1900, he founded a college for women: first for library, museum, newspaper publishing, the first training center for librarians at all. Hottinger wrote numerous publications and was editor of the illustrated weekly Volksblatt from 1878 .
