Christo Schopow

Christo Naumov Schopow - also Hristo Naumov Shopov - (born January 4, 1964 in Sofia , Bulgaria ) is a Bulgarian film actor .

Schopow enjoys star status in his home country. Internationally he is best known for his portrayal of Pontius Pilate in Mel Gibson's film adaptation of the Bible " The Passion of Christ ". Before that he appeared in Bulgarian film productions in front of the film camera ; one of his first international films was the 2001 Holocaust drama " The Gray Area " by Tim Blake Nelson . You could also see him in films like " Spartacus " and " Karol - A Man Who Became Pope ".

His father was Naum Schopow , who also worked as a film actor .
