Christof Heringer

Christof Heringer (born January 20, 1961 in Niedersimten ) is a German jazz musician, pianist, teacher and composer.

Life

After completing his musical training at the Palatinate Music Academy in Speyer in 1988 and the Federal Academy in Trossingen in 1992, Heringer deepened his studies with Jiggs Whigham and Leonid Chizhik . From 1984 to 1991 he played together with the drummer Andreas Keller in a duo and in various band projects, including in the jazz formation Crossover . At the same time he was a pianist in the big band Straight ahead . This was followed by other projects in the areas of fusion and jazz with Dave Hancock, Skyline, Raggedy Ann, Special FX, Top secret, Inflagranti and others, as well as many solo concerts. He also took part in workshops with jazz trumpeter Tony Lujan and Jiggs Whigham, among others. In 1986 he won the Performing Arts Contest and in 2001 received the Coin of Excellence award for his jazz piano playing .

In 1999 he founded the Christof Heringer Trio together with the double bass player Matthias Wolf and the drummer Uli Gessner . With this trio he recorded the album Quartets & Trios 2012 after the debut CD Realize 2006 and the piano solo CD Variations 2006 . Concerts and a. at the Jazztransfer Festival Saarbrücken.

Heringer was u. a. Lecturer at the Bayerische Musikakademie Hammelburg and at the HfG Jazz Days in Zweibrücken . Upon invitation, he appeared at SWR television in Baden-Baden and at the University of Mannheim . In 1991 his first piano solo CD Work was released . A total of eight more albums followed by 2012.

In addition to his work as a musician, he has been a teacher for piano and ensembles at the music school of the district of Southwest Palatinate since 1986 . In 2003 he published his piano work Short Pieces and in 2015 the Pirmasenser Piano Booklet , which he dedicated to the district of Südwestpfalz and the city of Pirmasens. In 2018 he published the Felsalbtaler Stubenmusik , a homage to his home community of Niedersimten. It was premiered as part of the Simter Spenglerkerwe. In 2018, the State Library in Speyer added all of Christof Heringer's compositions to its inventory.
