Christof Parnreiter

Christof Parnreiter (born March 20, 1964 in Linz ) is Professor of Economic Geography at the Institute for Geography at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Christof Parnreiter studied economic and social history as well as Romance studies from 1983 to 1994 at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Vienna . Extensive research stays in Latin America and a project assistant at the Institute for Geography and Regional Research at the University of Vienna followed in 1996. In 1998 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with a dissertation on migration to megacities in the third world . Since December 2005 Parnreiter has held the position of professor for economic geography at the Institute for Geography at the University of Hamburg . In 2006 his habilitation followed with the habilitation thesis Historical Geographies, Spatial History. The Latin American city in the 20th century at the University of Vienna.
