Christof Seeger (* 26. July 1973 in Germany) is a since 2005 Professor for Periodic media for print and online markets in the degree program Media Publishing at the Hochschule der Medien (Stuttgart Media University) in Stuttgart . From 2007 to 2014 he was the Dean of Studies of the Master’s degree in Print & Publishing at the HdM.

In 2015 he played a key role in the development of the master’s degree in “Crossmedia Publishing & Management”, which he has been head of as the Dean of Studies ever since .

Life

Seeger completed a degree in printing technology at the Technical College for Printing (FHD) in Stuttgart with a focus on marketing and management . In 2007 he completed an extra-occupational course to become a journalist. For several years he was the publishing director and managing director of a medium-sized newspaper publisher.

Seeger gained international experience with the news magazine Newsweek and was involved in several projects in other European countries. In 2004 he founded a management consultancy and has since worked on many publishing projects. He has been a lecturer and trainer for management and sales topics for the Federal Association of German Newspaper Publishers and the Zeitungs Marketing Gesellschaft (ZMG) for years.

In 2014 he was certified as a social media marketing manager and in 2015 as a digital marketing manager, and in 2017 he completed a distance learning course in "digital music production".

Seeger has established a new teaching and research field at the University of the Media with sports communication. In the Master’s Crossmedia Publishing & Management, from the winter semester 2020/21, there will be the opportunity to study the effects and requirements of digitalization in the field of sport in a master’s degree.

At the HdM he is a. a. with communication science issues in the area of ​​media use and media reception. Seeger examines, for example, the reading behavior of print products or the use of mobile devices through eye tracking and creates usability studies.

The focus of his work is primarily in the area of ​​press publishers and media houses and their transformation into the digital age. He deals intensively with the importance of media brands and the function of journalism in the context of social media.
