Christoph Augustynowicz

Christoph Augustynowicz (born May 26, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian historian .

Life

From 1988 studied history and Slavic ( Russian ) in Vienna and Volgograd . Since 1994 he has been working at the Institute for Eastern European History at the University of Vienna. After receiving his doctorate in 1997 and his habilitation in 2007 ( Venia Legendi for Eastern European History), he has been an associate professor since September 2007 . In the 2018 summer semester, he taught as a visiting professor at the University of Leiden .

His main research interests are relations between the Habsburgs and Eastern Europe in the early modern period, Galician-Polish border area research, the social history of Poland (-Lithuania) with special attention to the Jews, images and stereotypes of Eastern Europe (vampire (ism) belief) and historiography (concepts of Eastern Central Europe ).
