Christoph Becker (lawyer)

Christoph Becker (born November 11, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) is a German legal scholar. He is professor of civil law, civil procedural law, Roman law and European legal history at the University of Augsburg .

Life

Christoph Becker spent his school days in Neuss and graduated from the Quirinus-Gymnasium Neuss . He then completed a law degree at the University of Cologne . There he was with the dissertation The doctrine of laesio enormis in the view of today's usury problems: balance as part of the contract and § 138 BGB to Dr. iur. PhD . After a professorship at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, he completed his habilitation in Cologne. Becker has been Professor at the University of Augsburg, succeeding Wilhelm Simshäuser, since 1999 and became a member of the Swabian Research Association in 2009 .

Becker is a member of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and has been the "Leading Commander" of the Augsburg Commandery "Sankt Ulrich und Afra" since January 1st, 2017.
