Emmi & Mr. Willnowsky

Emmi & Willnowsky are a comedian duo consisting of Christian Willner (alias Valentin Willnowsky) and Christoph Dompke (alias Emmi), who are known in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for their stage and TV appearances.

Christoph Dompke (born 1965) completed his training as an assistant at public libraries, as well as studying musicology and German in Hamburg and Vienna. In 2009 he was awarded a Dr. phil with a thesis on "Popular Music and Nazi Persecution". He also writes film reviews and has published various books on film (including "Old Women in Bad Films"). Before he got together with Christian Willner as the duo "Emmi & Willnowsky", he was part of the music comedy duo "Emmi & Bertie" for many years.

Christian Willner (born 1967) learned to play the trumpet, piano and organ and conducted his first entertainment orchestra in 1987. In Hamburg he studied musicology, philosophy and Scandinavian studies. In addition to his studies, he led numerous choirs in Hamburg, a. a. the Hamburg Lotsenchor, the Blankeneser Volkschor and the DamenLikörChor. He is also the musical director of the Alster Quartet and the St. Pauli Kurorchester, with whom he accompanied the preliminary decision for the German contribution to the Grand Prix d‛Eurovision de la Chanson on ARD from 2006 to 2008.

Christoph Dompke and Christian Willner got to know each other during their studies in Hamburg, and since 1996 they have been working together as the duo "Emmi & Willnowsky". They received significant initial help from Thomas Hermanns , who also wrote and staged the duo's first programs, as well as the ensemble piece “Sing, if you can” (title for the revival “Emmi, the Salome from Spielbudenplatz”). They have been writing and directing themselves since 2005, and they also use third-party texts and compositions. a. by Edith Jeske , Thomas Zaufke , Rainer Bielfeldt . "Emmi & Willnowsky" are regular guests on all major comedy, cabaret and variety stages and were regularly seen in TV formats.

Emmi is an unsuccessful, aging chamber singer who has retained her conservative attitude from the post-war period and likes to take refuge in daydreams about a late career boost. Willnowsky is a penniless pianist from the former Soviet Union who was discovered by Ms. Emmi and initially used as an accompanist for her performances. Later the two married and prefer to vent their frustrations on each other and make no secret of their mutual disdain, but still cannot leave each other.
