Christoph Fischer (doctor)

Christoph Fischer (born March 20, 1958 in Münster ) is a German doctor , lecturer and freelance journalist .

Life

Fischer studied medicine and history at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität zu Münster and the Universidad de São Paulo / Brazil . He was a research assistant at the Institute for Hormone and Reproductive Research in Hamburg, where he completed his doctorate in 1986, and at the University Women's Clinic in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

From 1989 to 1990 he was the chief editor of the Ärzte Zeitung . In 1991 he worked as a freelance medical journalist in Hamburg and founded a specialist medical publisher, as well as the MedXpress agency in 1992 and provided editorial advice for the BILD newspaper , the Bild am Sonntag , BUNTE-Illustrierte , MAX (with its own column: Wellness). as well as on the television program: "Hallo, wie geht's" (Taunus-Film, Wiesbaden), for which he also co-moderated.

From 1993 to 1994, Fischer was chief editor at Ullstein Mosby , Wiesbaden / Berlin, a specialist medical publisher. From 1994 to 2005 he was head of the medicine department and from 2001 head of medicine, science, culture of the federal edition of the BILD newspaper.

Currently, Fischer only works for occasional and very selected journalistic projects or consultations.

Medical activity

In 1991 he completed his specialist training as a gynecologist at the Barmbek General Hospital, Hamburg.

Six years of clinical activity followed, mainly surgical, gynecological and reproductive medicine, until Fischer switched to journalism.

Since 2009 Fischer has been working full-time as a doctor again.

Lectureships

In 2001 he was appointed as a lecturer at the University of Hamburg in the journalism department, followed three years later as a lecturer at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster for the department of media and communication studies.

Since 2005, Fischer has also worked as a lecturer at the Hamburg Media School.
