Christoph Görg

Christoph Görg (* 1958 ) is a German political scientist specializing in environmental research . He is a university professor and head of the Institute for Social Ecology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna .

Life

Görg studied sociology , political science and philosophy at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main (1978–1986). In 1990 he received his doctorate with a thesis on the topic of new social movements and social theory . He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt until 1992, then as a research assistant until 2001.

In 2001 Görg completed his habilitation on the subject of the regulation of social relations to nature . From the winter semester 2001/2002 to the summer semester 2003 he held a substitute professorship at the University of Kassel . After a guest professorship in the summer semester of 2004 at Frankfurt University, he worked as a research assistant at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ until 2009 . From 2008 to 2015 Görg was Professor of Political Science at the University of Kassel, and since January 2010 also Head of the Department of Environmental Policy at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ.

Since April 2015, Görg has been Professor of Social and Human Ecology at the Institute for Social Ecology , which belonged to the University of Klagenfurt until February 2018 and has since been part of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna .

Görg's scientific focus is on the environment as a relationship to nature and on regulation theory . He is a member of the German Association for Political Science .
