Christoph Spengler

Christoph Spengler (born January 28, 1969 in Wermelskirchen ) is a German church musician .

Life

After graduating from the Leibniz Gymnasium in Remscheid in 1988, Spengler studied church music at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf with Almut Rößler and Volker Hempfling and graduated with the A-exam. In 1985 he became a church musician of the Johannes parish in Remscheid (since 2018 Evangelical Resurrection parish). In 2005 he founded the Remscheid Youth Orchestra (since 2017 the Remscheid Young Orchestra). In addition, he has been teaching the choir of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal since 2007 and the university orchestra since 2011.

2014-2016 he had a teaching position for popular music at the Musikhochschule Köln . Since 2014 he has been leading the popular music training program of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland and the Evangelical Church of Westphalia together with Matthias Nagel . He is a piano lecturer at the Evangelical Pop Academy in Witten in the Protestant Church Music popular course.

In 2017 he was appointed church music director by the church leadership of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .
