Christophe Lambert (born June 3, 1985 in Braunschweig ) is a German judoka who competes in the weight class up to 90 kg; he has the 2nd Dan .

Life

Lambert is of German and French nationality, as his mother is French and his father is German. That explains the different spelling of his first name. The Braunschweig registry office entered the first name in the German spelling in the birth certificate. The family itself only uses the French spelling, with the "e" at the end. He has a four years younger brother Maxime who is equally successful in judo. After graduating from the Robert Bosch Comprehensive School in Hildesheim in 2005 and completing his military service in the sports promotion group of the German Armed Forces in Cologne, Christophe Lambert began studying medicine in Cologne in 2007. In 2015 he completed his medical degree (focus on trauma surgery / orthopedics).

At the age of nine he later began judo in what was then TuS Holle Grasdorf "Judo in Holle" and joined the Lower Saxony state squad at the age of 12. At the age of 14, in the U17, he was supervised by the national coach Sven Loll , who was responsible for this age group at the time. This support continued successfully over the U20 until now with the seniors. Under the training direction of Bernd Lühmann, his exercise bike in Holle , he won one and later two German championship titles in the U17s. In 2001 Lambert took part in the European Youth Olympic Games in Murcia, Spain . In the U20 he was at the 2003 European Championships in Sarajevo / Bosnia and Herzegovina (5th place) and a year later at the World Championships in Budapest (9th place). 3 years (2007) later, in the last year of the U23, he won his first medal at an international championship - the bronze medal.

In 2009, in the senior age group, he changed the weight class from -81 kg to -90 kg. It was not until 2011 that he achieved his first international successes, such as the gold medal at the World Cup in Liverpool. They created the basis for top positions on the world rankings, which made it possible to qualify directly for the Olympic Games in London .

He attracted particular attention in 2012 with a spectacular victory over the then world number one Ilias Iliadis from Greece at the European Championships in Chelyabinsk / Russia, which he finished with third place. This also secured him the necessary points for the later nomination for the Olympic Games in London . In the competition there, however, he was eliminated in the preliminary round.
