Christopher Andreas Holmboe

Christopher Andreas Holmboe (born March 19, 1796 in Vang ; † April 2, 1882 ) was a Norwegian orientalist (philologist) and numismatist .

Life

He was the son of pastor Jens Holmboe and brother of mathematician Bernt Michael Holmboe .

From 1825 to 1876 he was professor of oriental languages ​​at Christiania University (now Oslo University ).

In 1844 he became a corresponding member of the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia .
