Christopher Fynsk

Christopher Fynsk (born August 30, 1952 ) is a literary scholar , philosopher and professor at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland .

life and work

Fynsk received a "Diplôme d'Etudes Avancées" in philosophy from the University of Strasbourg in 1980 . The following year he received a PhD from the Department of Romance Studies at Johns Hopkins University . Then Fynsk taught until 2004 as a lecturer and professor and dean of comparative literature at the University of Birmingham . From 1985 to 1987 Fynsk taught as Maître de conférences Associé at the Philosophy Department at the University of Strasbourg.

From 1995 to 1997 Christopher Fynsk was Dean of the Philosophy and Literature Section of the Modern Language Association . Since 2005 he has taught at the "Center of Modern Thought" at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where he directs the School of Language and Literature and is the director of the "Center of Modern Thought".

Fynsk deals with the political and literary aspects of continental philosophy . Works by Jean-François Lyotard , Gérard Granel , Jacques Derrida , Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe and Maurice Blanchot have been translated from French into English by Fynsk.
