Christopher Isengwe

Christopher Isengwe ( Christopher Isengwe Njunguda ; born February 22, 1976 ) is a Tanzanian marathon runner .

In April 2004, Isengwe won the Belgrade Marathon . In October 2004 he finished second in the Beijing Marathon in 2:10:56 h behind the Kenyan James Moiben .

He celebrated the greatest success of his career so far at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 , when he won the silver medal with a personal best of 2:10:21 h behind the defending champion Jaouad Gharib from Morocco. This was the first world championship medal for Tanzania in the history of athletics .
