Christopher Pleistern

Christopher Pleist (born May 15, 1948 in Hamburg ) was President of the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks (BVR) from 2000 to July 15, 2008 .

Life

Pleistern received his diploma in economics from the University of Munich in 1973 and his doctorate there in 1978. From 1977 to 1981 he worked at Landesgenossenschaftsbank AG in Hanover, then from 1981 at Hallbaum, Maier & Co and from 1985 he was appointed general representative of Norddeutsche Genossenschaftsbank AG, Hanover, on whose board he was appointed in 1985. In 1990 he became a member of the Board of Management of DG Bank (now DZ Bank) , Frankfurt am Main. Until July 15, 2008 he was chairman of the supervisory board of DZ Bank (Deutsche Zentral-Genossenschaftsbank AG) and is represented on various supervisory boards. Since February 3, 2009, he has been a member of the management committee of the Financial Market Stabilization Fund . On July 1, 2011, he took over the chairmanship of the management committee from Hannes Rehm .

Pleistern is married and has three children.
