Sir Christopher Sykes, 2nd Baronet ( 23 May 1749 - 17 September 1801 ) was a British politician.

Life

Christopher Sykes was the son of Reverend Sir Mark Sykes, 1st Baronet and his wife Decima (nee Woodham). He attended Brasenose College at the University of Oxford . On October 23, 1770, he married Elizabeth Tatton. The marriage resulted in three sons and two daughters. On September 14, 1783 he succeeded his father as 2nd Baronet , of Sledmere in the County of York. From 1784 to 1790 he represented the Beverley constituency in the House of Commons . In the 1790 elections, he decided not to run again. After his death in 1801, his eldest son, Mark, became 3rd baronet.

British politician Christopher Sykes is his grandson. Furthermore, the British writer, colonel, politician and diplomat Mark Sykes, 6th Baronet is his great-grandson and the British author Christopher Sykes , the son of the 6th Baronet, is his great-great-grandson.
