Christopher Walkden

Christopher Charles Walkden (born April 18, 1938 in Edinburgh , † July 28, 2011 ) was a British swimmer .

Walkden was a member of the London swimming club Beckenham SC . During his sporting career, he took part in the Olympic Games twice. When he made his debut at the age of 18 at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, he was eliminated from the competition over 200 meters chest as fifth of his prelim. Four years later at the Summer Games in Rome he reached the semifinals over the same route. As a member of the British 4 × 100 meter relay relay he came in seventh.

He celebrated the only medal successes at major international sports festivals in 1958 at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff. He won the bronze medal both over 220 yards back as well as with the English 4 × 110-yard layer relay.
