Christos Georgiou Doumas ( Greek Χρήστος Γεωργίου Ντούμας , * 1933 in Patras ) is a Greek archaeologist .

Doumas worked in the Greek heritage authority since 1960 Ephorie of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities , the Cyclades , the Dodecanese and in the northern ägaischen Islands. He was also the curator of the Prehistoric Collection of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens and worked as the antiquities director and director of restorations in the Greek Ministry of Culture. From 1980 until his retirement in 2000 he taught as a professor of prehistoric archeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens .

He has been the leading archaeologist on the prehistory of the Aegean Islands since the 1960s. After the death of his teacher Spyridon Marinatos , he has been leading the excavations in Akrotiri on the Cycladic island of Santorini since 1975 .
