The Evangelical Lutheran Christ Church is located in the parish of Nazza in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

history

The Hopfgarten family had this village church built in 1560 with a noble estate in accordance with the regulations of that time. The family crypt is also located under the gallery . The tombstone of Hans Ernst von Hopfgarten , who died in 1717, covers the crypt. The year 1560 stands as a year in which the church on a stone tablet next to the former main entrance. In 1971, after extensive exterior and interior renovation, this was relocated to the south side as planned in advance of the rededication of the church to the Christ Church.

architecture

The church has style elements from the transition from Gothic to Renaissance , for example in the type of window design. Rediscovered foundation walls point to a previous building. The crucifix was carved between 1430 and 1440. A sacrament house carved in stone and the bell are also dated to 1510. It is even said that a bell from 1480 hung in the church tower .
