from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chrysostomus Astmann (born July 14, 1775 in Brüx ; † August 5, 1834 in Karlsbad ) was abbot of the Osek Monastery .

Life

Astmann entered the Osek Monastery in 1793, took his religious vows in 1799 and was ordained a priest in the same year. He was initially a cooperator in Maria Ratschitz 1801-1806, then professor at the theological home school, from the end of May 1810 to 1823 prefect of the Komotau grammar school. On June 24, 1823 he was elected abbot and in 1826 as visitor and vicar general of the Bohemian Order Province. It is thanks to his caution and severity that the monastery came back financially after the Napoleonic wars and the devaluation of money in 1811.
