Chung Hom Kok ( Chinese  舂 坎 角 , Pinyin Chōngkǎn Jiǎo , Jyutping Zung 1 ham 2 gok 3 ) is a place in the south of Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong . Chung Hom Kok forms a peninsula between the two bays Chung Hom Wan in the west and Stanley Bay in the east.

Chung Hom Kok Beach is located in Chung Hom Wan Bay . Inland, a residential area borders the village of Stanley . The peninsula proper is largely uninhabited, except for the Cheshire Home nursing home in the southwest, which opened in 1961.

Between 1977 and 1994, the British intelligence service GCHQ operated wiretapping systems on the peninsula that were part of the Echelon spy network . The plants were completely dismantled by the time Hong Kong was handed over to the People's Republic of China . At the location there are again parabolic antennas today. The Hong Kong government has leased the site since 2000 as an earth station and landing point for submarine cables .
