Ciarduna

Ciarduna is an Italian pastry .

Ciarduna siciliana is a sweet pastry from the Palermo region in Sicily . It consists of a shell of Mandel - biscuit and is Ricotta or mascarpone filled. Other variants are coated with chocolate or sprinkled with powdered sugar .

Traditional ingredients are: flour , sugar , lard , vanilla , baker's yeast , ammonia baking powder ( ammonium hydrogen carbonate ), milk and crushed almonds .
