History and construction

Due to a request from Fuerza Aérea Argentina for a light helicopter for agricultural tasks, Augusto Cicaré developed the CH-5 AG . Work on this model began in the early 1980s. The first flight took place in 1986. Due to technical problems, the flight tests could not be completed until 1988. Although the helicopter was developed for the agricultural sector, it is also very popular in the private sector in Argentina. The helicopters used in the private sector without spray equipment are called Cicaré CH-5 . The robust single-seat helicopter consists of a tubular steel frame and the cabin and rotor are made of composite materials. It is powered by a Lycoming-O-320-A2C four-cylinder boxer engine with 110 kW and has a skid running gear.
