'Cina' is a vine rootstock grown by Carl Julius Bernhard Börner at the "Biological Reichsanstalt" in Naumburg an der Saale in Germany for the biotechnological control of phylloxera, especially on soils contaminated with phylloxera. It is a phylloxera-resistant rootstock.

Ampelographic features

  • Shoot tip: vinifera-like, half open to open, thick woolly hair, medium anthocyanin color
  • Fully grown leaf: medium to large, round, short teeth, stalk bay open, U-shaped, leaf veins have very thick bristle hair, leaf upper side smooth to slightly blistered, petioles with very strong bristle hair
  • Shoots: very strong bristle hairs, angular
  • Flower: female

Properties - use

The underlay 'Cina' is not suitable for damp and at the same time chalky soils . On the one hand, it has only a low to medium tolerance to lime, on the other hand, it has a high drought and high resistance to phylloxera against the root and aphid.
