The Cincinnati Jungle Kats were an arena football team from Cincinnati, Ohio that only operated in arena football for one year. The Jungle Kats completed their only season in af2 . They played their home games in the US Bank Arena .
history
The Jungle Kats were founded in 2007. The owners of the franchise was the longtime NFL defensive tackle Sam Adams, who also played for the Cincinnati Bengals and especially baseball legend Ken Griffey Jr .
After only one year, however, the club dissolved again.
2007 season (af2)
The only season of the Jungle Kats was anything but optimal. They ended the season with just one win out of 16 games. The only victory came on May 5, 2007 against the Fort Wayne Fusion . The game was won just under 35:32.
Audience development
year | Audience average |
---|---|
2007 | 3,565 |
In the only season in the history of the franchise, the average attendance was 3,565 spectators per home game. Compared to the other teams this season, they ranked in the lower midfield in this regard.
The city of Cincinnati suffered a similar fate with the Cincinnati Swarm , founded in 2003 , which also operated for only one year and was then dissolved. Here, too, the lack of audience interest was mainly responsible.
Most of the spectators followed the first game of the season on March 31, 2007 against the Quad City Steamwheelers , when they lost 21:81 in front of 4,853 spectators.
Stadion
The Jungle Kats played their home games at the US Bank Arena in Cincinnati. The arena football stadium with 14,453 spectators has already been used by many other minor ice hockey and basketball clubs.
There are currently plans to demolish or rebuild the arena.
