history
Ciocana originated on the area of the former settlements Ciocana Nouă (New Ciocana) and Ciocana Veche (Old Ciocana). The first written mention dates back to the year 1757. Ciocana became a district of Chișinău in 1959. In the 1960s, building activity began. In addition to multi-storey residential buildings, public buildings and a number of important industrial companies were built. However, many apartments did not find tenants due to the low wages.
