Ciocana is a district of the Moldovan capital Chișinău . At the 2004 census it had 101,834 inhabitants.

The Bîc flows through the southwest of the district .

history

Ciocana originated on the area of ​​the former settlements Ciocana Nouă (New Ciocana) and Ciocana Veche (Old Ciocana). The first written mention dates back to the year 1757. Ciocana became a district of Chișinău in 1959. In the 1960s, building activity began. In addition to multi-storey residential buildings, public buildings and a number of important industrial companies were built. However, many apartments did not find tenants due to the low wages.
