Botanica ( Russian Ботаника / Botanika ) is a district of the Moldovan capital Chișinău . At the 2004 census it had 156,633 inhabitants.

The district is located in the southeast of the city and is bordered by the Rosental and the railway line , among other things . It has a size of 1300 hectares. District parts of Botanica are Frumuşica, Munceşti, Galata, Fulguleşti and Malina Mare.

Botanica takes its name from a botanical garden at the viticulture school founded in 1842. In the 1960s, the existing small settlements began to be expanded into a large residential area. The district was established in 1977.

Botanica is home to the Zimbru Stadium , the home stadium of the Moldovan national football team , the Zimbru Chișinău club and the FC Dacia Chișinău .
