Cipolletti's website

Cipolletti is a town to the west of General Roca Department in Rio Negro in southwest Argentina . The city is located at the intersection of national roads 22 and 151. Together with the capital of the province of Neuquén and Plottier, Cipolletti forms the Neuquén - Plottier - Cipolletti agglomerate.

etymology

Cipolletti is named after the Italian engineer César Cipolletti who studied the area's water resources.

history

In 1881 General Lorenzo Vintter founded Fort Confluencia . The city was founded on October 3, 1903 as Colonia Lucinda by Colonel Fernández Oro. In 1909 it was renamed Cipolletti after the local train station.

population

According to INDEC estimates, the population increased from 68,348 inhabitants (1991) to 75,078 inhabitants in 2001.
