Cipotânea
Cipotânea , officially Portuguese Município de Cipotânea , is a municipality in Brazil in the state of Minas Gerais . The area is 153.479 km², the population is 6,850 (official estimate 2016).
City prefect (mayor) of the municipality is José Bonifácio Gomes (PHS) for the 2017–2020 electoral term.
history
The place was founded at the beginning of the 18th century, initially as Säo Caetano do Xopotó . The first chapel was built in 1755, and a separate parish was established in 1857. The place received its current name in 1938, in 1953 it was elevated to a municipality, effective 1954.
