José Nicomedes Grossi

José Nicomedes Grossi (born September 15, 1915 in Cipotânea , Brazil , † June 21, 2009 in Juiz de Fora , Brazil) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Bom Jesus da Lapa .

Life

José Nicomedes Grossi studied philosophy and Catholic theology from 1935 to 1940 at the St. Joseph Seminary in Mariana ( Minas Gerais ). He was ordained a priest on September 21, 1940 . He then worked as a mission pastor in Carinhanha .

On August 28, 1962 he was by Pope John XXIII. appointed first bishop of the newly established diocese of Bom Jesus da Lapa . The bishop of Pouso Alegre , José d'Angelo Neto , donated him episcopal ordination on January 25, 1963 ; Co- consecrators were José Eugênio Corrêa , Bishop of Caratinga , and José Costa Campos , Bishop of Valença . His motto was "Respice Stella" (watch out for the stars).

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On March 15, 1990, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
