Wilhelm Lohr

Wilhelm Christian Löhr (born March 15, 1889 in Hohensolms , Wetzlar district , † September 20, 1941 in Magdeburg ) was a German surgeon .

Live and act

The son of pastor Wilhelm Löhr studied human medicine at the universities of Giessen , Berlin , Bonn , Munich and Kiel . In 1908 he became a member of the Alemannia Gießen fraternity . He was also a member of the Germania Berlin fraternity . In 1914 he was at the Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel to Dr. med. PhD . After basic internist and pathological-anatomical training with Richard Lenzmann in Duisburg and Johann Georg Mönckebergin Düsseldorf he worked with his brother-in-law Wilhelm Anschütz in Kiel. There he completed his habilitation in 1923 with the work on general reactions of the body in the healing of uninfected wounds and uncomplicated fractures. Löhr became an associate professor in 1927 . From 1931 to 1937 he was director of the surgical clinic of the Magdeburg-Altstadt hospital. In 1937 he succeeded Walther Wendel as head of the surgical clinic at the Magdeburg-Sudenburg hospital. In 1941 Löhr died of tuberculosis.

His main areas of work were postoperative metabolism, bacteriology, adnexal diseases, ischemic contractures, osteochondritis dissecans and varicose vein treatment.

He was married to Elisabeth von Mikulicz, daughter of the surgeon Johann von Mikulicz . He was the father of the Kiel surgeon Berthold Löhr and the grandfather of the orthopedic surgeon Joachim Löhr . His brother was the internist Hanns Löhr from Kiel .
