Langenbeck's Archives of Surgery , abbreviated Langenbecks Arch. Surg. , is a scientific journal published by Springer-Verlag on behalf of the following medical societies:

history
The journal was founded in 1860 by Bernhard von Langenbeck , Theodor Billroth and Ernst Julius Gurlt under the name Archive for Clinical Surgery , making it the oldest specialist surgical journal in the world. In 1947/48 it merged with the German Journal for Surgery (founded in 1872) and was renamed Langenbeck's Archive for Clinical Surgery, combined with the German Journal for Surgery . In 1969 the name was on Langenbeck's Archives of Surgery shortened and in 1998 the title was anglicized in Langenbeck's Archives of Surgery . The magazine appears eight issues a year. Works are published that deal with all aspects of surgery.
The impact factor in 2014 was 2.191. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor ranks 62nd out of 198 journals in the surgery category.
