José Costa Campos

José Costa Campos (born August 23, 1918 in Três Pontas , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † July 10, 1997 ) was Bishop of Divinópolis .

Life

José Costa Campos studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the São José Seminary in Mariana . On October 28, 1904 , he received the sacrament of ordination through the Bishop of Campanha , Inocêncio Engelke, OFM .

Subsequently, Costa Campos worked as a teacher at the Small Seminary of the Campanha diocese. He then became pastor in Pouso Alto and three years later pastor in Itanhandu , where he also worked as a teacher at the Colégio das Irmãs .

On December 9, 1960, Pope John XXIII appointed him . to the Bishop of Valença . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on February 24, 1961 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Campanha, Othon Motta , and the Bishop of Pouso Alegre , José d'Angelo Neto . Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Divinópolis on March 26, 1979. On February 27, 1989, John Paul II accepted José Costa Campos' resignation.

José Costa Campos participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
