Cristiano Portela de Araújo Pena (born August 11, 1913 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil , † August 2, 2000 ) was Bishop of Divinópolis .

Life

Cristiano Portela de Araújo Pena received on 18 September 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On February 19, 1959, Pope John XXIII appointed him . first bishop of Divinópolis. The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on May 17 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the coadjutor archbishop of Belo Horizonte , João Resende Costa SDB , and the bishop of Juiz de Fora , Geraldo María de Morais Penido .

On March 26, 1979, Pope John Paul II accepted Portela de Araújo Pena’s resignation.

Cristiano Portela de Araújo Pena attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
